Talk about female rights and liberty: So many rape incidents, rapists going scot-free. Damini in December in Delhi and the myth in my head that mumbai is a safer city. Just yesterday, a photo journalist was gang raped in Mumbai.
Take the rupee, its now about 63 rupees against a dollar.
Onions: they werea poor man's meal, namak pyaaz and roti. I wonder what they eat now when pyaaz is 60 Rs per kg.
Just yesterday Prachi n I went for nariyal pani. the guy told us it was for 30 bucks and we were like "so much?" and he replied "aapne dekha hai pyaaz kitna mehenga hai?" "bhaiya, ek hee de do, hum share karte hain"
And mind you we are the few who can deal with this inflation even though our stipend remains the same. sigh.
and the traffic signals. It will kill you to watch kids begging.
Mid day meals cause sickness. Why would you think that food served there will help these children begging on the street.
the situation worries me. IFMR was my answer to try and do something for a change. Alas, i failed and here i am trying to do research on development areas but to what end?
Even if i come up with policy implications, what will change? what will change in an era of corruption and hoarding. The rich will become richer and the poor will become poorer. Disappointing but true. This is life. Such is life.
